Russia attacks Ukrainian drone production location

(MENAFN) Russian forces conducted a large-scale attack targeting Ukrainian drone production plants, radar factories, munitions depots, and equipment storage sites, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Tuesday. The operation also struck drone storage and launch locations, as well as positions held by Ukrainian troops and foreign mercenaries. In total, 142 sites were hit using a combination of missile strikes and drone assaults, although the ministry did not provide detailed information on specific targets.

These strikes followed a recent Ukrainian assault on military airfields across five Russian regions, including areas in Siberia and the Far East. Ukrainian media called their operation “historic,” claiming substantial damage to Russia’s strategic aviation. While the Russian Defense Ministry acknowledged the attacks, it stated that three were successfully repelled without damage or casualties, and two caused fires on several aircraft. No official confirmation was given on any aircraft losses.

The statement coincides with ongoing Russian offensive actions along the front line, where Russian troops have held the upper hand for several months. In the past day, Russian forces captured the village of Andreevka in Ukraine’s Sumy Region. Ukrainian losses reportedly include over 1,500 soldiers and around two dozen artillery pieces.

In late May, President Vladimir Putin announced plans to establish a “security buffer zone” along the border following the successful defense against Ukraine’s incursion into Russia’s Kursk Region. The zone is intended to protect civilians from long-range attacks.

Russia continues to accuse Ukraine of targeting civilians, conducting sabotage, and planning assassinations of officials, journalists, and public figures. The recent railway sabotages in Bryansk and Kursk Regions have been labeled “terrorist attacks” by the Russian Investigative Committee, aimed at inflicting maximum civilian casualties.
