Iran executes spy for Israel's Mossad intelligence agency
According to judiciary sources, the individual, identified as Esmail Fekri, was hanged on Monday after undergoing full legal proceedings and receiving a final verdict from Iran’s Supreme Court.
Fekri was reportedly detained in December 2023 during what authorities described as a complex intelligence operation. He was accused of communicating with Mossad and attempting to transfer classified Iranian information in exchange for financial compensation.
Officials claim the case involved highly sensitive national security matters and that the intelligence operation leading to his capture had uncovered efforts to compromise state secrets.
This execution follows a similar case in late May, when another man, Pedram Madani, was put to death for allegedly spying for Israel. The two cases highlight Iran’s intensified crackdown on suspected foreign espionage amid mounting regional hostilities.
