Pakistan Introduces 2025-30 National Tariff Policy to Boost Economic Resilience

(MENAFN) Pakistan has introduced its National Tariff Policy (NTP) for 2025–2030, marking a key milestone in its strategy to accelerate industrialization and promote long-term economic resilience.

During the official launch ceremony on Wednesday, Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, who serves as the coordinator to the Prime Minister on commerce and industries, emphasized that the newly introduced policy aims to establish a transparent, predictable, and investor-conducive tariff system. He described it as a reflection of the government's strong resolve to streamline tariff regulations, simplify trade-related procedures, and stimulate export-driven growth.

Khan stated that the NTP supports duty-free import of raw materials and the gradual removal of additional customs and regulatory duties. It also backs the development of emerging and environmentally sustainable industries. According to him, these steps are intended to foster innovation, create jobs, and lay the foundation for long-term economic progress.

The policy is tailored to support core sectors such as textiles, engineering, pharmaceuticals, and IT, while also driving investment and lowering manufacturing costs across industries, Khan added.

He added that the NTP reforms will strengthen the global competitiveness of Pakistani industries and drive a shift toward higher value-added exports. According to Khan, these changes are expected to spur GDP growth, boost employment, enhance industrial productivity, and build investor confidence.
