Iran, UAE Stress Need for Stronger Regional Security

(MENAFN) On Sunday, Iran and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) emphasized the critical need for collective regional participation to maintain security in West Asia, according to a report by a news agency.

During a phone conversation, Ali Akbar Ahmadian, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, and Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE's National Security Advisor, reviewed pressing regional concerns, bilateral relations, and condemned what they described as Israeli and U.S. "aggression" targeting Iran.

Ahmadian commended the UAE for denouncing Israel’s military "aggression" against Iran, highlighting that the safety of countries in the region is "intertwined" and must involve cooperation from all neighboring states.

"If a regional country's security is threatened by foreign risks, the entire region will be challenged," Ahmadian warned.

He also reaffirmed Iran’s steadfast commitment to deepening ties with neighboring nations.

Similarly, the UAE’s top security official stressed that security in the region hinges on collective responsibility.

"If a regional state's security is compromised, it would negatively affect all other countries of the region," Sheikh Tahnoun stated.

This dialogue follows a sharp escalation that began on June 13, when Israel conducted extensive airstrikes on multiple sites across Iran, including nuclear and military facilities, resulting in the deaths of senior commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians. In retaliation, Iran launched several missile and drone attacks on Israel, inflicting casualties and damage.
