Small plane crashes after deporting from London
(MENAFN) A Beechcraft B200 light aircraft crashed shortly after departing from London Southend Airport in Essex, UK, around 4:00 p.m. local time on Sunday. The moment of the crash was captured on video and later shared across social media platforms.
Footage from the scene displays thick black smoke billowing into the sky from a field adjacent to the runway. Photos said to have been taken just after the incident show a massive fireball and a powerful explosion.
The exact number of passengers aboard the small plane is not yet known. Authorities from both Southend Airport and the Essex police acknowledged the crash, but no official information has been released regarding fatalities or injuries.
“We were alerted shortly before 4pm to reports of a collision involving one 12-meter plane. We are working with all emergency services at the scene now and that work will be ongoing for several hours,” the police said in a statement.
Emergency responders, including four ambulances, four vehicles from the hazardous area response team, and an air ambulance, were dispatched to the area, according to local medical authorities. As a precaution, nearby facilities such as the Rochford Hundred Golf Club and the Westcliff Rugby Club were evacuated due to their proximity to the crash site.
According to reports, the flight was bound for Lelystad in the Netherlands. London Southend Airport lies approximately 60 kilometers east of central London. Data from flight tracking platforms suggests that the plane was operated by Zeusch Aviation, a Dutch company that provides private charter services, medical evacuations, and organ transport flights.
