Man assaults elderly man in Spain leading to street clashes
According to reports, the tensions sparked fierce street scuffles between local residents, far-right activists, and North African migrants. Videos circulating online captured the chaos, with shouting crowds clashing in the streets, throwing stones, bottles, and other objects. Riot police and Civil Guard forces were deployed to the area and worked to contain the situation and prevent it from escalating further.
In one video, two groups of men are seen throwing a café chair at each other, while another clip depicts a man in a car attempting to defuse a tense situation as he is pelted with stones by several young individuals speaking Arabic.
A local official told reporters that at least five people were injured in the clashes, and one arrest was made. Authorities expect more arrests in the coming days as they investigate the violence and possible hate crimes. Officials emphasized that they will not tolerate any form of racial violence and are committed to upholding public order.
By Sunday, the town had largely returned to calm, although the incident marks the latest in a series of immigration-related tensions across Spain. Earlier this month, protests erupted outside an asylum center near Madrid after a young woman was allegedly raped by a man from Mali, further fueling public concerns over immigration and safety.
