Tulsi Gabbard clarifies why battle against ‘deep state’ is sluggish
Her remarks followed the Trump administration’s controversial decision not to release the so-called ‘Epstein list,’ which some believe contains the names of high-profile associates of the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Officials have denied the existence of such a document. Critics view the decision as further proof of the deep state’s ongoing influence.
Speaking at a Turning Point USA student conference in Tampa, Florida, on Sunday, Gabbard said, “They exist within every single agency of the federal government, the national security state, and the propaganda media.” She acknowledged the frustration expressed by many online over the slow pace of change, stating, “The deep state is fighting us every step of the way.”
Gabbard’s comments followed a speech by former Trump campaign strategist Steve Bannon, who told attendees to be patient, predicting that documents related to the Epstein case would eventually be fully released. Bannon argued that a special counsel investigation could expose efforts to undermine Trump and his MAGA movement.
“Epstein is a key that unlocks not just individuals but entire institutions,” Bannon said, pointing to intelligence agencies, foreign governments, and connections within the US government.
Epstein died in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges, in what authorities ruled a suicide. The administration’s refusal to release further records related to the case has been criticized by Trump allies, including Bannon.
President Trump defended Attorney General Pam Bondi’s handling of the matter, dismissing claims about the Epstein files as exaggerated or fabricated by political opponents.
