Humanitarian Group Calls on UK to Halt Arms to Israel
According to local officials, at least 12 civilians — including eight children — were killed on Sunday in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza. The victims had reportedly been waiting to collect water when they were struck by Israeli fire.
“These children have names, they had hopes and dreams for the future. They are someone's everything, their entire universe. We refuse to allow their suffering to become normalized,” the charity stated in a post on X.
The organization strongly criticized the UK government for continuing to authorize the sale of weapons to Israel. This includes supplying parts for F-35 fighter jets, which Save the Children claims are being deployed to “kill and maim children.”
“The UK public see what is happening. They will not be silent while their Government is complicit in Israel's atrocities by continuing to license the transfer of arms,” the group added.
Reiterating its demand, Save the Children called for the immediate suspension of all arms shipments to Israel, asserting: “The UK Government must not be an ally to Israel's atrocities.”
Since October 2023, Israeli military operations in Gaza have reportedly killed more than 58,000 people. The ongoing campaign has decimated infrastructure, forced widespread displacement, and led to catastrophic humanitarian conditions resembling famine.
