Kremlin Criticizes German Minister's Remarks
Pistorius had implied that German forces are prepared to engage Russian soldiers with lethal force if the situation demands it.
In an interview with a business daily, Peskov expressed disbelief over Pistorius’ statements, saying, “it is hard to believe that Pistorius actually made the comments,” but added, “But, unfortunately, this is so.”
He emphasized his concern by reiterating that “Germany is becoming dangerous again.”
Pistorius' remarks were made during a conversation with a news agency, published on Sunday.
In the interview, the German defense chief praised the preparedness and determination of the country’s military, highlighting their willingness to take deadly action against Russian troops if necessary.
“If deterrence doesn’t work and Russia attacks, is it going to happen? Yes,” Pistorius stated.
He further encouraged observers to “go to Vilnius and talk to the representatives of the German brigade there,” affirming that “they know exactly what their job is.”
