Russia’s Lavrov, China’s Xi Hold Talks at SCO Summit
The discussions centered on key matters related to upcoming high-level interactions between the two countries, particularly preparations for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s anticipated visit to China. The visit will coincide with the SCO leaders' summit and events commemorating the "80th anniversary of victory over militarist Japan," the ministry said.
During the meeting, Lavrov outlined Moscow’s stance on "certain current topics on the international and regional agenda" and passed along "friendly greetings and best wishes" from President Putin to the Chinese leader, the statement noted.
President Xi, in turn, expressed enthusiasm about Putin’s forthcoming trip and offered "high praise to the state of bilateral relations and reaffirmed commitment to further enhancing comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction" with Russia, the ministry added.
